Our History

Life Church has been in various stages of existence for about fourteen years. It started in the “Dream Stage” years ago as we felt excitement about one day planting a new church.

The dream stage gave way to the “Concept Stage” in the summer of 1999. It was at this time that Curt and Lisa Hughes left their position of ministry in Cincinnati to actively pursue the planting of Life Church. Over the course of that summer, various individuals also felt God’s calling to this area, thereby forming the core plant team of Life Church. While some have relocated, others were already from this community.

The planning stage came next as the Hughes’ moved here in January, 2000. The core plant team spent the next two months meeting, praying for and planning the launch stage of Life Church. Also during this time, the Korean West Alliance Church graciously offered to share their facility with us on Saturday nights. Their hospitality gave us the ability to have our first official Worship Celebration on April 22, 2000. We continued in a foundational stage having Saturday Night Celebrations through October, 2001.

It was then that the leadership team of Life church saw the need to move our Celebration to Sundays. We began meeting in the Wheaton Community Center as the building stage has begun. In these ways, God directed a group of people to join together to reach the area’s post-modern generation with His eternal message of hope.
